Its been a really long time since I've continued to blog. But today I stumbled onto this old blog and decided to update with the 2 places I ate today.
Lunch was in Siam Coffee & Dining in Subang Parade.
This used to be the old Coca restaurant. Haven't been back here for years....and was surprised to see so many diners inside.
And with these prices- RM19.90 for a large papaya salad. RM25.90 for pandan leaf chicken.
Certainly COCA type prices, and not exactly cheap....THEN, it dawned on me.
1) People who work around here need to eat
2) Promotion menu- there was so much choice, super cheap as well....if not mistaken, you could get an entire meal for RM14 inclusive of a main course with rice, drink and tom yam soup.
We decided to have noodles instead. E ordered a fried mee hoon in gravy and I had seafood fried glass noodles. Washed down with starfruit juice+coffee and dessert of sticky rice mango.
Verdict:- Need to ask for extra chilli padi.
The oil used to fry my noodles smelt old. Am guessing it was used to fry some other food previously and the cook hadn't changed to new oil in a while. If I were to dine here agin- I would try out their rice dishes (as I saw most tables ordering rice over noodles) and will avoid the fried foods...which makes me quite sad because I was totally in love with Coca's prawn cakes (they beat the fish cakes anyday)
Drove out to SS15 to try out Cowboy Burger in SS15 for a light dinner.
Cosy little place. Looks like it needs help with advertising and a change in decor to draw in the crowds though. Everytime we drive pass- the place seems empty; which is sad because honestly I think it deserves more patrons.
The burger E had was a Cowboy Aloha Piggy Burger...with pineapple- naturally :) Had an interesting sauce- sorta wasabi-ish kick to it and caramelised onions which were very sweet. He liked it better than the burgers nearby from Burger Factory. My order of a mushroom soup was thick and served in a small squarish bowl with a slice of toasted baguette? This was 100% chopped up authentic fungi. NO CANNED Campbells watered down stuff here! I thought it was pretty decent once I added 2 shakes of salt and pepper, but E wasn't a fan. Next time, when I'm not stuffed from having eaten a KFC snack plate a half hour before- I'd like to try more items on the menu.
